My loves!
Yesterday evening at 5:30 pm I layed myself down on the bunk in the hospital train, made it through the transit to Paris just fine and set foot on land this morning at 7 am. So in the language of a real sailor, because of my surroundings, I almost forgot that I’m just a simple foot soldier. Everyone here is still outraged over the attempted major air offensive by the English on Paris that took place the day before my arrival. To carry out an attack on not only an exposed, undefended city, but also on a former ally, demonstrates a truly astonishing and insurpassable beastliness.
I haven’t seen much of Paris yet, but that which I have seen is magnificent. This city is layed out in a way that is genuinely indescribable. The treatment of my illness is actually just beginning now, so I can’t report anything about its success yet.
I’ve lost a relatively large amount of weight. That’s not remarkable since the diet I’m on causes weight loss itself. But if it makes me better again, I’ll put up with losing weight gladly.
Now and then the possibility of buying something arises, and I had thought I would have enough money for that purpose if I had received hazard pay. I definitely won’t be receiving hazard pay here, though, because I’m not located in an official danger zone. For this purpose you can send me money--I wouldn’t need any for myself. As far as I know, you can send me the amount for a regular soldier (36 M) every month. There’s no hurry, though.
My address is listed at the bottom.
Many heartfelt greetings and kisses
