But here goes! Actually, our Thanksgiving was completely incredible. The food was delicious, the company was wonderful, and we managed to keep tradition alive in a land where canned pumpkin and reasonably priced cranberries and pecans are but a distant dream. Luckily, I have friends who like to cook (and are great at it!), so everyone brought at least one dish to share with the group. I was in charge of stuffing, a vegetable side dish, and pecan pie. I used my mom's recipe for the stuffing and I feel like I did it justice! My friend Riane Kerwin was visiting from her semester abroad in Paris, which was fitting because our families have spent the last six Thanksgivings together. She made green beans with garlic and tomatoes--an excellent complement to a hearty meal. We also had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and three kinds of pie.
